Anonymous asked: What do yout think of MIT Arch? They seem brilliant to me, it's really interesting to see their Computational and Building Technology programs. Why then do they seem to have a bad reputation among architects? I've heard that "they are not really architects, they are just playing with science and design and can't deal with the reality of the profession". How do you see al this?
The comment “they are not really architects, they are just playing with science and design and can’t deal with the reality of the profession” probably applies to most architecture schools. It is the way architecture school is designed to make everyone think they will be designing alone and get their ideas built without considerations for team, budget, construction limitations and client expectations. If that is the only thing that worries you about MIT then I tell you they are no worse (or better) than any other architecture school.
Architecture students hard at work at drafting tables at MIT.
